The Municipality of Paxos is proceeding with the implementation of the project “Digital Transformation of the Municipality of Paxos into a Smart City”, a comprehensive project for the modernisation of municipal infrastructure and services, implemented in collaboration with DOTSOFT S.A.

The project is funded by the “Antonis Tritsis” Programme of the Ministry of Interior and forms part of the Municipality’s strategy to improve citizens’ everyday lives, reduce its energy and environmental footprint, and enhance the digital operation of municipal services.

The physical scope of the project includes the implementation of two main functional sections:

A. Smart Lighting for Roads and Squares of the Municipality of Paxos
As part of the project, an integrated smart control system for municipal street lighting will be delivered and put into operation. The system includes the supply and installation of 250 LED lighting fixtures, equipped with sensors and remote management capabilities.

The system enables the management of each lighting fixture individually, providing capabilities for:

• remote switching on and off,
• adjustment and modification of the lighting level,
• continuous monitoring of the status and operation of the lighting fixtures,
• immediate detection of faults and malfunctions.

The operation of the system is supported by central remote monitoring and energy consumption measurement software, contributing to the maximum possible energy savings, the reduction of operating costs, and the optimisation of the Municipality’s lighting infrastructure.

B. Integrated Smart Management System for Municipal Infrastructure and Operations

At the same time, an integrated digital system for the smart management of the activities of the Municipality of Paxos is being implemented, aiming to:

• modernise municipal structures,
• digitise and organise municipal services,
• collect, process, and utilise critical data.

The system includes digital platforms for resource and infrastructure management, business intelligence tools, a central platform for data collection and processing, as well as the necessary network infrastructure for their secure and reliable operation.

Through the above, the Municipality strengthens its capacity to prevent and address phenomena related to climate change, such as natural resource management, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and improved waste management. At the same time, emphasis is placed on familiarising citizens with new technologies, so that digital solutions are effectively adopted and deliver maximum value.

Upon completion of the project, the Municipality of Paxos will have acquired a modern, scalable, and sustainable smart city digital ecosystem, improving residents’ quality of life, enhancing the Municipality’s operational efficiency, and laying solid foundations for the future.
