Instructional design and technical development of a self-paced e-learning course, conversion of existing content, e.g., manual(s), presentation(s) deck, training materials, set of guidelines or policies, lecture notes, ITU publications, and other knowledge products with the title "Technical and Soft Skills with the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI)", available at: https://academy.itu.int/trainingcourses/full-catalogue/introduction-technical-and-soft-skills-african-girls-can-codeinitiative. It was developed to increase the outreach and enable more girls and young women to take the training beyond the physical coding camps.
Objectives:
▪ Enhanced the interactivity of the content to increase learner engagement and encourage reflection.
▪ Reworked the learning objectives to a SMART format and adapted the resulting learning outcomes of the course, working in close cooperation with the project team.
▪ Based on the revamped objectives, increased the instructional design approach for the course modules to enhance the overall learning value of the course as a standalone self-paced e-learning.
Activities:
- Creation and use of relevant case studies and real-life examples.
- Incorporation of gamification elements.
- Augmentation of the value of existing knowledge checks (quizzes) and adoption of new modalities to verify learning.
- Development of supporting learning materials to incorporate in the course (animations, video, audio) to enrich the learning experience.
- Translation of the content into other languages, for example, French and Portuguese.
