DOTSOFT S.A. participates in the implementation of the research project entitled "BIOINFORMATIC ANALYSIS OF LARGE VOLUME OF GENOMIC DATA OF PATIENTS WITH GITHOOD VOLUME AND DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED ALGORITHMS FOR THE FINDING OF BIODECTS AND FORECASTING THE POSSIBILITY OF CELLULAR TRANSFERS", under the acronym "BIOPREDICTOR", code HΠ1AB-0028189 under the E. Programme "Epirus 2014-2020".

The project is co-financed by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund.

The partners cooperating for the implementation of the project are:

  • DOTSOFT INTEGRATED WEB APPLICATIONS AND DATABASES S.R.O.
  • COMITECH S.A.
  • UNIVERSITY OF IOANNINA

The main objective of the project is to find biomarkers to predict the likelihood of cellular mutations leading to carcinogenesis, as well as some important clinical characteristics of these carcinogeneses. This will be explored through bioinformatics analysis of large volumes of genomic data from brain tumour patients and the development of sophisticated algorithms, relying heavily on a unique and untapped clinical database that will be made available for this purpose by a specialist laboratory at Imperial College Medical School, London. The overall aim is to create a reliable prognostic mechanism that, when combined with the results of a simple patient DNA test, will be able to predict the occurrence of cancer mutations and their form. This mechanism can be used as a screening test in high-risk individuals as well as in existing patients to predict the progression of the disease and the administration of optimal treatment. Such a development would have very wide international appeal and significant economic benefits. The prognosis would not require the physical presence of the patient, only the results of the DNA test, and could be done from Greece for patients from all over the world, even online. The project places substantial emphasis on the dissemination of the results to the academic and medical world through international publications and conferences, as even for the potential use of the method and its economic exploitation, those who refer patients for testing must first be informed and convinced of its usefulness and reliability.
