proPOLIS is a 36-month research project aimed at developing an integrated predictive policing solution to enhance public safety, support patrol planning, and prevent crime in smart cities. The solution combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms with Digital Twin (DT) technologies to analyze data and support the prediction of potential risks in urban environments.

By leveraging data from multiple sources, the project will develop machine learning and deep learning tools, Digital Twins, and intelligent decision-support systems. The Digital Twins will enable the digital representation of urban areas, real-time data analysis, and the simulation of various scenarios.

Particular emphasis is placed on the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twins, including privacy protection, mitigation of algorithmic bias, accountability, and human oversight.

The solution will be evaluated through scenarios involving the detection of petty crime, the protection of public spaces, and the enhancement of safety in smart cities. Testing will take place at the CERTH Technology Park, while pilot implementation will be carried out in areas of the Municipality of Agrinio.

Type and Scope of Services Provided

• Digital Twins: Development of a Smart City Digital Twin for the digital representation, monitoring, and simulation of urban areas.
• Artificial Intelligence: Further development of DOTSOFT’s Artificial Intelligence algorithms for pattern recognition and the prediction of potential trends and events.
• Mobile Applications: Enhancement of mobile applications to provide real-time information, incident geolocation capabilities, and data analysis functionalities.
• APIs & Microservices: Development and utilization of APIs and microservices to support the integration and interoperability of the project’s technological solutions.
• Data Integration: Integration of data from multiple sources to support enhanced analytics and more effective response mechanisms.
• Pilot Validation: Support for pilot operations, evaluation of project outcomes, and planning of the solution’s validation in municipalities and local communities.

The proPOLIS project is implemented within the framework of the “Research – Innovate” Action, Intervention II, “Partnerships between Businesses and Research Organizations.”
