The project involves the supply and installation of an integrated waste collection management solution aimed at improving the efficiency of the Municipality’s Cleaning Services Department.

More specifically, the project includes the development of a fleet management system that provides municipal staff with the tools required for more efficient management of the Municipality’s vehicle fleet, with a particular focus on reducing operating costs and maximising vehicle utilisation.

To further optimise the waste collection process, a bin fill-level and weighing management system will be installed. The system enables the identification of each bin through its electronic identity and the automatic recording of its weight during collection by the waste collection vehicle. It consists of 500 bin fill-level sensors and 7 weighing sensors installed on the Municipality’s waste collection vehicles.

In addition, display screens will be installed inside the cabs of the waste collection vehicles, enabling drivers to optimise collection routes and improve operational efficiency by displaying route information in real time.

The project has been included under the “Digital Convergence” priority axis of the “Antonis Tritsis” Programme and is funded through national resources under the Public Investment Programme (PIP).
