Kozani Smart City: A New Digital Era in Citizen Services
The Municipality of Kozani invests in digital transformation through an Integrated Digital Platform for Citizen Requests and Smart Applications
The Municipality of Kozani is turning its vision of becoming a modern and efficient municipality into reality through the implementation of the project “Integrated Digital Platform for the Submission, Management and Monitoring of Citizen Requests for Improving Citizens’ Daily Life through Smart Applications.” This strategic initiative leverages modern technologies to place citizens at the centre of municipal services.
The platform enables every citizen to communicate directly with the Municipality, receive timely information on matters that concern them, and actively participate in improving everyday life in the city.
Scope of Work
- Bureaucracy-Free Services: Through new web and mobile applications, citizens can submit applications and requests for certificates electronically, receive a protocol number, and track the progress of their requests from submission to completion.
- Unified Document and Workflow Management System: All requests are electronically registered and routed to the relevant municipal departments, ensuring faster processing and reducing bureaucracy.
- A Cleaner City: By installing tablets in 30 waste collection vehicles, municipal staff can record incidents and issues in real time, enabling immediate response and more efficient operations.
- Continuous Citizen Information: Citizens have access to news, events, Municipal Council decisions, civil protection information, as well as useful information such as on-duty pharmacies, hospitals, municipal services and points of interest.
- Citizen Participation and Interaction: Through surveys and interactive communication tools, citizens can express their opinions and contribute to improving municipal services.
- Smart Parking: The platform introduces a modern controlled parking system with mobile payment capabilities. The installation of 25 underground sensors at access ramps and accessible parking spaces ensures their proper use and improves accessibility. At the same time, the Municipal Police are equipped with tools for more effective enforcement, while interoperability with the platform’s other applications ensures seamless and efficient operation.
- Support for Schools: A dedicated application enables school principals to submit requests related to the smooth operation and maintenance of school facilities.
- Central Data and Decision-Making Platform: All information—including citizen requests, reported incidents and parking data—is consolidated into a single dashboard, providing municipal officials with a comprehensive overview of municipal operations and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
A Project That Delivers Value to Citizens
The new platform brings the Municipality of Kozani closer to its citizens by providing transparency, speed and efficiency. Citizens can now communicate with the Municipality directly from their mobile devices or computers, receive timely updates on matters that concern them, and actively contribute to improving their city.
Through this project, the Municipality of Kozani establishes itself as a pioneer in digital transformation, creating a smarter, more modern and citizen-friendly city.
