Sami CivilPro: Smart Civil Protection Infrastructure

Sami Strengthens Its Resilience with Smart Civil Protection Infrastructure

The Municipality of Sami is implementing an innovative crisis management and civil protection infrastructure project aimed at enhancing public safety and improving its ability to respond effectively to emergencies. As part of the project, a modern Operations Centre is being established, fully equipped with technologies supporting energy autonomy, communications, and real-time data processing.

Key features of the project:

  1. IoT sensor network: Installation of 60 sensors for the early detection of wildfires, erosion, extreme weather events, and the monitoring of resource availability, such as water. Measurements are collected in real time, creating a database for continuous analysis.
  2. Integrated IoT platform: All sensors are interconnected through a central platform that collects and stores data, providing immediate access through the Crisis Management Centre.
  3. Digital crisis management centre: Incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning tools for risk analysis and improved decision-making.
  4. Citizen information platform: Provides citizens with reliable real-time information on preventive measures and guidance during emergency situations.
  5. Support equipment: The project includes the installation of sirens, satellite phones, drones, GPS trackers for civil protection vehicles, and public information displays to enhance operational preparedness.

The project strengthens the Municipality of Sami against both natural and human-induced disasters, including earthquakes, floods, wildfires, pandemics, and extreme weather events, by enhancing prevention, monitoring, and early response capabilities.

The project is implemented under the “Antonis Tritsis” Programme, within the “Digital Convergence” priority axis, and is funded by national resources through the Public Investment Programme.
